In the past customers have asked Outer Seaways if an invoice is necessary when shipping samples, replacement parts and other "$0 value" transactions to customers.
The answer is yes. Every shipment should have an invoice regardless of the value of the transaction.
Even in circumstances where you are not charging your customer, an invoice showing the actual value of the goods must be provided to avoid issues when clearing customs.
When not charging your customer, your invoice should still list the actual commercial value of the goods but mention that the value is "for customs purposes only" so that you can properly clear customs.
